If you’ve ever led a multi-level Girl Scout troop, you already know — organization is everything… but keeping things fun and meaningful matters just as much.
This year, we’re starting something a little different for our troop, and honestly, it might be one of my favorite ideas yet: each girl will create her own personal binder and memory book.
Not only does this help keep everyone organized, but it also gives the girls something they can truly call their own — and watch grow throughout the year. 💚
🌟 Why This Works So Well for Multi-Level Troops
When you’re working with different age levels, things can get overwhelming fast. Some girls are just starting out, while others are working on more advanced badges and even doing independent research.
These binders solve multiple problems at once:
- Keeps all papers, badges, and notes in one place
- Gives older girls space for research and independent work
- Helps younger girls stay engaged and feel included
- Creates a keepsake they can look back on for years
It’s structure and creativity combined — and that’s the sweet spot.
📋 What We’re Including in Each Binder
We wanted this to be both functional and fun, so here’s what we’re planning to include:
- ✅ Contact sheet (so families stay connected)
- ✅ Mini calendar with meeting dates (and days off!)
- ✅ Interest form so girls can share what they’re excited about
- ✅ Core badge tracking sheet
- ✅ Troop dues information
- ✅ Troop rules and expectations
- ✅ Notes section for meetings, activities, and badge work
For our older girls, this is especially helpful — they can use their binder for research, homework for badges, and planning their own ideas. It gives them ownership over their Girl Scout journey in a really meaningful way.
💰 Keeping It Simple (and Affordable)
Instead of expensive binders, we’re going with pronged folders.
Why? Because they’re:
- Budget-friendly
- Easy to carry
- Less bulky for younger girls
- Still get the job done perfectly
This keeps things accessible for every family while still creating something special and personal.
🎨 Making It FUN (Because That Matters!)
The best part? We’re turning this into an activity for our very first meeting.
We’ll have stickers, markers, and decorations ready — and each girl will get to design the front of her binder and make it completely her own.
This simple step turns a “supply” into something meaningful — and it sets the tone for creativity, ownership, and excitement right from the very start of the year. 🎉
🌱 More Than Just a Binder
What starts as a simple folder will turn into:
- A record of their growth throughout the year
- A place for their ideas and creativity
- A collection of memories they’ll treasure
- A tool that builds independence and responsibility
And honestly… those are the kinds of things that stick with them long after the meetings are over.
💚 Final Thoughts for Fellow Leaders
If you’re looking for a way to:
- ✔ Stay organized from day one
- ✔ Engage multiple age levels at once
- ✔ Empower your girls with ownership
- ✔ Start the year on an exciting, creative note
This is such an easy win. Sometimes the best ideas aren’t the most complicated — they’re the ones that bring structure, creativity, and purpose all together in one place. And this one does exactly that.
If you try this with your troop, I’d love to hear how it goes! Drop a comment below or share your binder photos — I’m always cheering for our Girl Scout families. 💚🍪
